The RoboCats will be hosting a night at the races on February 4, 2012 at the American Legion. Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the first race will begin at 7:00 pm. Admission is free. If you would like to buy a horse or donate a prize, call (330) 545-5431 ext. 202 for more information.

The RoboCats met in the Girard High School cafeteria on Saturday, January 7 at 9:00 am for the kickoff of the 2012 FIRST Robotics season. We learned this year’s game, Rebound Rumble, then had a team brainstorming session until 3:00 pm. We were joined by several RoboCats alumni. The entire ream is now hard at work. The build team is designing and constructing the robot, and the PR team is working on this year’s Chairman’s Award.

The RoboCats would like to congratulate the Girard Junior High School LEGO robotics team, the LEGO Lizards, for qualifying for districts. They will be traveling to Akron, Ohio on January 13 to compete. Good luck Lizards!

On December 17, 2011, the RoboCats hosted a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) regional thanks to the generous sponsorship from Time Warner Cable, the Cafaro Foundation, Delphi, the Art Outreach Gallery, ANN Printing & Promotions, Inc., the Girard homecoming Committee, and Knightline Embroidery and Screenprint. RoboCats worked alongside mentors from team 48 from Warren, Ohio. Twenty-one teams attended the regional, including Girard Junior High School’s own LEGO Lizards. We would like to thank all of the volunteers who spent their day with us, helping the regional run so smoothly.
